السر #1: لا تقرأ النص كاملاً — استخدم Skimming
الخطأ الأول والأكبر: قراءة النص من الأول للآخر كاملاً.
الطريقة الصحيحة: استخدم Skimming — امسح النص بسرعة لـ 1-2 دقيقة فقط.
اقرأ الجملة الأولى والأخيرة من كل فقرة فقط. الجملة الأولى تعطيك الفكرة الرئيسية، والأخيرة قد تحتوي على خلاصة أو ربط. تجاهل التفاصيل الآن.
الجملة الأولى: "Global warming has dramatically altered farming practices."
الجملة الأخيرة: "Farmers must adapt or face significant losses."
→ الفكرة: تغير المناخ يؤثر على الزراعة والمزارعون يحتاجون للتكيف.
هذا يعطيك outline للنص في 90 ثانية. بعدها تبحث عن الإجابات بسرعة.
السر #2: ضع خط تحت الكلمات المفتاحية
بعد Skimming، ستعرف موقع الإجابات تقريباً. الآن ابحث عن كلمات مفتاحية من السؤال داخل النص.
خذ 2-3 كلمات مهمة من السؤال (لا أدوات ربط مثل "the" أو "and"). ابحث عن نفس الكلمات أو معانيها في النص. ضع خط تحتها.
الكلمات المفتاحية: scientist, discover, ocean temperature
ابحث عن نفس الكلمات (أو synonyms) في النص. عندما تجدها، الإجابة قريبة جداً.
السر #3: افهم الفرق بين TFNG و Yes/No/Not Given
هذا الفرق يرتجله معظم الطلاب العرب. وهو يسبب 5-6 خطأ من 15 سؤال.
True = النص يؤيد الجملة
False = النص يقول العكس
Not Given = النص لا يتحدث عن هذا الموضوع (لا يقول True ولا False)
Yes/No/Not Given:
Yes = النص يؤيد الموقف/الرأي
No = النص يعارض الموقف/الرأي
Not Given = لا معلومات عن هذا الموقف
الجملة: "Coffee can help with memory loss."
الإجابة: FALSE (النص يقول العكس مباشرة: "doesn't cure memory loss")
ليست "Not Given" لأن النص تحدث عن هذا الموضوع.
السر #4: استراتيجية Matching Headings
Matching Headings من أصعب أنواع الأسئلة. الفخ: اختيار heading بناءً على كلمة واحدة متطابقة بينما النص يتحدث عن شيء مختلف.
1. اقرأ الفقرة بكاملها (أسرع قراءة)
2. اكتب الفكرة الرئيسية بجملة واحدة بكلماتك
3. ابحث عن heading الذي يعكس هذه الفكرة الرئيسية، لا كلمة واحدة فقط
الفكرة الرئيسية: اكتشاف نوع طير جديد
الـ Headings:
A) Colors in Bird Plumage ← خطأ (ركزت على كلمة "colors" لكن الفكرة ليست عن الألوان)
B) Discovery of a New Bird Species ← صحيح (هذا السياق الرئيسي)
السر #5: استراتيجية MCQ — الحذف والعملية
في اختيار متعدد، لا تختر الإجابة الأولى التي تبدو صحيحة.
1. اقرأ السؤال
2. ابحث عن الكلمات المفتاحية في النص
3. اقرأ الفقرة حول هذه الكلمات
4. احذف الإجابات الخاطئة واحدة واحدة
5. الإجابة المتبقية هي الصحيحة
السر #6: إدارة الوقت — 20 دقيقة لكل نص
لديك 60 دقيقة لـ 3 نصوص. هذا يعني 20 دقيقة لكل نص كحد أقصى.
• 1-2 دقيقة: Skimming والفهم العام
• 15 دقيقة: الإجابة على الأسئلة
• 2-3 دقائق: التحقق والتصحيح السريع
إذا علقت على سؤال أكثر من دقيقة: اترجه وانتقل للأسئلة الأخرى. عد إليه في النهاية.
السر #7: اكتشف Paraphrasing — أكثر مهارة Band 7
الممتحن لا يكرر الكلمات من النص مباشرة. يعيد صياغتها. هذا يفصل Band 7 عن Band 5.
الإجابة: "Alternative sources of electricity are gaining acceptance in wealthy countries."
Paraphrasing:
• "renewable energy" → "alternative sources of electricity"
• "solar and wind" → (لم يذكرها لكن المعنى نفسه)
• "increasingly popular" → "gaining acceptance"
• "developed nations" → "wealthy countries"
كيف تتدرب على هذا؟ خذ جمل من النص وأعد صياغتها بكلمات مختلفة. هذا يعلمك تعرف الإجابات حتى لو لم تكن مطابقة حرفياً.
الخطأ الأكبر عند الطلاب العرب
الترجمة الحرفية. تترجم كل كلمة للعربي بدل القراءة بـ English mindset.
اقرأ بالإنجليزي وافهم الفكرة العامة. لا تترجم. كل ثانية تقضيها في الترجمة هي ثانية ضايعة.

One of the biggest challenges for Gulf IELTS students is the Reading section. Not because your English is weak, but because your strategy is wrong. You read entire passages, translate every word into Arabic, and waste 30 minutes on a single text.
I'm a former IELTS examiner who has studied this exam for 20 years. Here are 7 secrets that will help you solve Reading quickly and professionally — and reach Band 7.
Secret #1: Don't Read the Entire Passage — Use Skimming
The biggest mistake: reading the text from beginning to end completely. The correct way: use Skimming — scan the text quickly for 1-2 minutes only. Read only the first and last sentences of each paragraph. Ignore the details for now.
Secret #2: Highlight Keywords
After skimming, you'll know the approximate location of the answers. Now search for keywords from the question inside the text. Take 2-3 important words from the question (not connector words like "the" or "and"). Search for the same words or their synonyms in the text.
Secret #3: Understand the Difference Between TFNG and Yes/No/Not Given
TFNG: True = the text supports the statement, False = the text says the opposite, Not Given = the text doesn't discuss this topic.
Yes/No/Not Given: Yes = the text supports the opinion, No = the text opposes the opinion, Not Given = no information about this opinion.
This difference accounts for 5-6 errors out of 15 questions for most Arab students.
Secret #4: Matching Headings Strategy
The trick: choosing a heading based on one matching word while the text discusses something different. The correct way: Read the paragraph quickly, write the main idea in one sentence using your own words, then find the heading that reflects this main idea, not just one word.
Secret #5: MCQ — Elimination Method
In multiple choice, don't choose the first answer that looks correct. Instead: eliminate the wrong answers one by one. The remaining answer is correct. Band 7 students eliminate 3 wrong answers with certainty. Band 5 students choose the first answer that feels right.
Secret #6: Time Management — 20 Minutes Per Text
You have 60 minutes for 3 texts, which means 20 minutes maximum per text. Allocation: 1-2 minutes skimming, 15 minutes answering, 2-3 minutes checking. If you get stuck on a question for more than a minute: skip it and move to the next questions. Return to it at the end.
Secret #7: Recognize Paraphrasing — The #1 Band 7 Skill
The examiner doesn't repeat words from the text directly. They rephrase them. This separates Band 7 from Band 5. The text says "renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power are becoming increasingly popular in developed nations." The answer says "alternative sources of electricity are gaining acceptance in wealthy countries." Train yourself to recognize these rephrases.
The Biggest Mistake Arab Students Make
Literal translation. You translate every word into Arabic instead of reading with an English mindset. Every second you spend translating is a wasted second. Read in English and understand the general idea. Don't translate.
