I'd like to talk about my high school English teacher, Mr. Khalid. I first met him when I was in grade 10, and honestly, before his class, I had absolutely no interest in English — I actually dreaded the subject.

What made him different was his teaching approach. Instead of just going through textbooks, he would bring real-world materials — newspaper articles, song lyrics, even movie scripts. I use it on a daily basis for pretty much everything — from creating to-do lists and tracking my study schedule to storing important notes and documents. What I particularly appreciate about it is its flexibility. Unlike most apps that serve just one purpose, Notion allows you to customise your workspace according to your specific needs.

I find it incredibly useful because it has essentially replaced five or six other apps I used to juggle. Before Notion, I had a separate app for notes, another for tasks, another for bookmarks — it was chaotic, to say the least. Now everything is in one place, which has significantly improved my productivity.

A city that I've been longing to visit for years is Kyoto in Japan. I first learned about it through a documentary about Japanese traditional culture, and I've been fascinated by it ever since.

If I had the opportunity to visit, I would definitely explore the thousands of temples and shrines scattered across the city. I'd also love to experience a traditional tea ceremony and walk through the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, which I've seen in countless photographs.

What makes Kyoto particularly beautiful in my eyes is the way it seamlessly blends ancient tradition with modern life. Unlike many cities that have sacrificed their heritage for modernisation, Kyoto has managed to preserve its cultural identity while still being a thriving, contemporary city. There's something about that harmony between old and new that I find deeply appealing.

This takes me back to last year when I was waiting for my university admission results. I had applied to three universities, and the waiting period was approximately six weeks, which felt like an eternity at the time.

During those weeks, I tried to keep myself occupied — I continued studying, started a small online project, and made an effort to exercise regularly. But honestly, there were days when the anxiety was overwhelming, especially when I saw my friends receiving their offers before me.

Looking back on it now, I think the experience taught me a valuable lesson about patience. I realised that some things are simply beyond our control, and that worrying doesn't change the outcome — it only ruins the present. When the acceptance letter finally came, the relief was indescribable.

One environmental issue that plagues my city is air pollution, particularly during the summer months when temperatures soar above 45 degrees. The main contributing factors are vehicle emissions, industrial activity, and the frequent dust storms that are characteristic of the Gulf region.

This problem affects residents in several ways. Many people suffer from respiratory issues, and during peak pollution days, you can actually see a visible haze hanging over the skyline. Children and elderly people are particularly vulnerable, and schools sometimes have to cancel outdoor activities.

In terms of solutions, I believe a multi-pronged approach is needed. The government could invest more in public transportation to reduce the number of cars on the road, and there should be stricter regulations on industrial emissions. On an individual level, switching to electric vehicles and reducing our carbon footprint would make a significant difference over time.
